The Luminary is pleased to announce the return of LOT 49, a contemporary art auction and fundraiser, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, while introducing a new Art & Culinary experience and VIP preview event on Friday, September 15th, 2023. LOT 49 is an annual benefit for The Luminary, one of the leading arts organizations in the region that connects with over 50,000 people each year as part of our ambitious and far-reaching programs.
LOT 49 is a unique artist-centric auction initiated not only as an annual benefit for The Luminary, but also a direct means of support for artists in the region. Artists take home 51% of all sales from the event; the remaining 49% goes to sustaining The Luminary’s innovative roster of programs and vibrant community space.
This year, The Luminary is proud to partner with local vendors to highlight the talent of our neighbors on Cherokee Street and celebrate the community we cultivate. The event features an open bar, small bites, a chance to view and purchase artworks, and entertainment with our host and emcee Jewel Charger and a special live performance of new work by our very own Aloha Mischeaux.

A dinner in seven scores on September 15th, 2023.
The Luminary introduces the inaugural LOT 49 VIP Dinner and Preview Event this year. Resonance: Nue Landscapes — a dinner in seven scores is a special art, sound, and culinary experience dreamed up by visual artist and sound sculptor Alex Braden and curated by Brianna McIntyre, The Luminary’s Wayfinding Fellow.
Join us for a unique evening and exclusive LOT 49 preview at The Luminary on September 15th. Guests will enjoy an avante-garde dining experience with locally sourced ingredients. The meal will feature seven courses, individually paired with an original generative musical score. Each movement is developed, sampled, and built upon a field recording of the ingredients’ origin. All courses highlight a unique local ingredient—and are paired with handmade cocktails, showcasing a local ingredient piece.
