The 2701 Party: Celebrating 10 years on Cherokee, is a free party + concert held on Friday, May 17th starting at 6pm and going late, with a lineup of visual artists, musicians, treats, and design, and an exhibition with works available for purchase for one-night only.

On May 17, 2014, The Luminary opened its doors at 2701 Cherokee Street after two years of work, 2000+ hours of volunteer labor, and successful crowdfunding campaign that enabled our growing organization to purchase and renovate the building. The Luminary has since thrived as a successful gallery and resource center for emerging and mid-career artists: with 56 major exhibitions, 32 studio members, 134 residents, and hundreds of events supported in its new home. This year, we are throwing a major party celebrating the legacy and creative spirit that has been built collectively within these walls over the last decade.

We will kick off our celebration with an awards ceremony for the 2024 Futures Fund recipients, followed by a special announcement from our Executive Director, Kalaija Mallery. The party then follows with a lineup of live performances from legacy artists and emerging talent that honors our early establishment as a music venue, and an afterparty that is sure to be a good time.

In addition to the free concert, the party will offer a variety of food and drinks, a limited edition merch drop made in collaboration with artists and designers, and an exhibition of artwork from both national and local artists, offering attendees the chance to acquire unique pieces that reflect the diversity of contemporary artistic practice in our networks.

Located in a district that has historically allowed creative people to take risks and start new things, we are honored to reside as a legacy institution that emerged from the same spirit. We can’t wait to party with you.
